Melvin Ira Reavis, 81, of Owings passed away on October 6, 2025, with his children and grandchildren by his side. He was born on January 10, 1944, in Richmond, Virginia to Wilbert Henry Reavis and Doris Cotman Reavis. Melvin grew up in Richmond and joined the United States Air Force on July 5, 1963. He married Ralpha Elisabeth Lauer in 1967 and they lived in Newbury, England before moving back to the United States in 1970 where they were stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. In 1975, they were stationed back in England before moving back to the United States in 1979. They settled in Owings in 1984. Melvin was a retired Senior Master Sergeant and 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force with significant accomplishments and accolades in his military career where he provided logistics support to the Air Force mission to include Air Force One on Joint Base Andrews. After his military retirement, he later worked as a senior military defense contractor for Raytheon Technologies. After Melvin's wife passed away in 2022, he forged a new endeavor and learned how to paint at the North Beach Senior Center. He really enjoyed all the new friends he made in his class.

Melvin is survived by his children, Andreas Saldivar of Chesapeake Beach, Tanya Donaldson of Chapel Hill, NC, and Dmitri Reavis of Laguna Beach, CA and grandchildren, Christopher Reavis of Greenbelt, Emily Donaldson of Chapel Hill, NC, and Andrew and Sophie Reavis of Laguna Beach, CA.

The services for Melvin will be open to the public.
