Phyllis Burks Man passed into heavenly peace on August 11th, 2025, at the age of 89, at the Brickyard Nursing Home in Bloomington Indiana.

She was born in Bloomington on September 1st, 1935 to Frank and Hazel Kelly Burks. She was a Bloomington High School graduate of 1951 at the age of 16. After high school she attended Indiana University and worked in the Alumni Office.

Phyllis worked in secretariat and managerial office positions in Anchorage, Alaska,Secretary at the Naval Research Laboratory, Defense Intelligence Agency and the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in Bloomington, Indiana.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Frank Burks of Dover, PA, , Richard Burks of Bloomington, Indiana, and sister Patricia Weaver of Richmond, VA.

She is also preceded in death by children: Kenneth E. Sheppard Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Amy Wilmoth Redner of Fort Washington, MD, and Ronald Wilmoth of Palmer, AK.

Phyllis leaves behind children: Carol Sheppard Hoffman of Gosport, Indiana, Aaron Wilmoth of Arlington, VA, Randy Wilmoth of Alva, Florida, Rick Wilmoth of Montross, VA, Angie Wilmoth Allison of Accokeek, MD, and Angus Wilmoth III of Butler, TN.

Phyllis was blessed with 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Her interests were playing the piano, painting, reading, and researching her family' s ancestry.

Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, and cooking.
