Maureen Clare Jenkins
April 28, 1960 – June 14, 2025

Maureen Clare Jenkins passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Bronx, New York, to Dolores Flynn Tompa and the late Dr. Albert Stephen Tompa, Maureen moved with her family shortly after to Indian Head, Maryland.

Growing up in Indian Head, Maureen cherished family vacations, visits from cousins, and quality time spent with those she loved. She graduated from St. Mary's Star of the Sea and Lackey High School before earning an Associate's Degree in Computers from Charles County Community College. Her compassionate and nurturing spirit led her to return to school to become a Registered Nurse—a calling that defined her life and touched countless others.

Maureen's nursing career spanned over three decades at Charles Regional Medical Center (formerly Physicians Memorial Hospital and Civista Medical Center). Beginning in labor and delivery, she rose through the ranks to become Nursing Manager of Women's Services, a foundational Board Member, and ultimately retired as a Nurse Case Manager. Her dedication extended beyond her work; in 2005, she was honored as Queen Mystique at Civista's Mardi Gras Ball, a reflection of her spirited commitment to fundraising that brought vital new equipment to the hospital.

Known for her generosity and warmth, Maureen was the heart of countless holiday celebrations and family gatherings. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and delicious food—her cooking and baking were legendary among friends and family. Maureen was an avid fan of black-and-white movies and cherished trips to Disney World, where her playful spirit shone brightest. She had a zest for life, embracing travel and cruises with her beloved husband David, sharing countless adventures. Maureen's love also extended to their cherished Weimaraners and Vizsla, who were constant companions and her sources of joy.

She is preceded in death by her father Albert and brother Christopher. Maureen leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, David; her devoted mother Dolores; children David Jr. and Meghan; son-in-law Bruce; granddaughter Sophia; siblings Mary Kay, Bill, and Greg; in-laws Dennis and Rochelle; godchildren; Joshua, Anna, Noah, and Amy, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by her love and kindness.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM until Mass at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church (201 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD 20646). Interment to follow at the Trinity Memorial Gardens (3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd. Waldorf, MD 20601).
