William Leroy Owens, "Bill", 86, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on June 9, 2025, in LaPlata, MD. Born on January 19, 1939, in LaPlata, MD, he was the son of the late Mabel Dean Owens and the late William James Owens. Bill was the loving husband of Aloisia Owens, whom he married in January 1966. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Susan Ann Owens of Mechanicsville, MD, William James Owens II (Leighann Ellen) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Cassandra M. Johnson of Woodstock, VA, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his siblings, James "Duffy" Owens and Marjorie L. Owens.

Bill was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident and graduated from Charlotte Hall Military Academy in 1956. He served in the United States Navy from September 18, 1956 to December 1, 1962; during this time, he was stationed on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Bill was an insurance salesman with People's Life Insurance Company through their sale to Monument and then Transamerica. He was a valued salesman and recipient of many sales awards.

Bill was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Legion, and a former member of the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department. Breakfast at The Landing was a staple for Bill, and he loved a good card game and enjoyed visiting at the Veteran's Home.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
