William Jerome Higgs, born on September 21, 1948, to Mary Katherine VanWert, and Frederick Claveland Higgs, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, at the age of 77, with his family at his side. A devoted Catholic and passionate Notre Dame fan, he also had a deep love for his golden retrievers Colonel, Hank, and Captin. William's life was one of dedication to both his work and faith.

For many years, William worked as a liquor store manager, known for his friendly demeanor and strong work ethic. He was deeply loved by those who knew him, and his contributions to his community and workplace will be remembered fondly.

William is survived by his son, William "Jerry" Higgs II, who cherished his father's wisdom and love throughout his life. He is also survived by his daughter, Katherine M. Higgs. He is preceded in death by his son Joseph A. Higgs. He also leaves behind a network of friends and family who will deeply miss his presence.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, located at 30195 Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall, MD. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Trinity Memorial Gardens, located at 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road in Waldorf, MD.
