Thomas Milton Swann Sr., 89, of Cobb Island, MD passed away February 18, 2025, at 7:06pm at Charles Regional Medical Center in Laplata, MD. He was surrounded by loved ones. His final moments were peaceful and painless.
Thomas was born November 9, 1935, to Quincy and Ruth Swann (Welch) at their home in Swan Point, MD. Thomas was one of eight children. He married in 1960 to his beloved wife Evelyn Swann (Smith) and they had two children together, Thomas Jr. and Linda. Eventually they welcomed five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was a career waterman and enjoyed spending his time on the water fishing and crabbing. He was a stubborn, but loving man. His 57-year marriage is a testament of his love, loyalty, and patience. He loved his family and cared for those around him deeply. He had a kind heart and a strong work ethic. He enjoyed a cup of black coffee every morning, jelly doughnuts, honeybuns, orange soda, a western show or movie, and his time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him PawPaw. He left his door open for any and all who needed him. He would have given you the shirt off his back if you asked. He will be missed eternally by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Qunicy Swann, his wife Evelyn, son Thomas Swann Jr., daughter Linda Swann, grandson Jonathan Swann Sr., granddaughters Kimberly and Ashley Swann, brothers Vernon and Walter Swann (Edith), sisters Irene Pilkerton (Philip), Eleanor Pilkerton (Gilbert), Jenny Hill (George), and Delree Gamble (Bill). He is survived by his sister Hazel Oliff (Roy), granddaughters Nikki Bowling (Andrew) and Catherine Swann, and seven great-grandchildren, Maddie Swann, Jonathan Swann Jr., Cheyenne Hart, Aubrey Grieashamer, KJ Shumate, Lacey Bowling and Brantley Bowling. Services will be held at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Marys Ave Laplata, MD) on February 27, 2025. Viewing will begin at 12pm. Reverend Kate will speak at 2pm. We will conclude at 3pm and proceed to his burial at Christ Church Wayside. All are welcome to join us. |
