Geraldine Windham "Geri" Werdig, 91, of Owings, MD passed away February 3, 2025. She was born March 7, 1933, in Washington D.C. to Ray and Blanche Windham. Geraldine was raised in Chevy Chase, MD and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. She met her husband Robert "Bob" Werdig, Jr. in 1954 after his return from Army duty in North Korea and they married December 15, 1956. Geraldine also attended the University of New Mexico and later graduated with a bachelor's degree. Geraldine was an expert in pesticide use and effects, and was employed as a pesticide consultant with the Environmental Protection Agency.
Geraldine and her husband Bob resided in Washington, D.C. for many years, and also lived on their farm in Owings where they restored and added on to their log cabin. The farm became the focus of their lives, and they generously hosted many outings there with members of the many organizations to which they belonged. She joined the Eastern Star DC Chapter in the 1980's and then in 1994 joined the Maryland Chapter of the OES Silver Spring. Geraldine was also an active member of the University of New Mexico Alumni Association of the Metropolitan D.C. area. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin Werdig, Jr. She is survived by her friend and neighbor Tommy Lee Huckleby, Sr. along with his wife Melody.
