George Lawrence Vallandingham, Sr., 75, of Coltons Point, MD, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at his home. Born on December 17, 1949, in Leonardtown, Md, he was the beloved son of Margaret Shirley Nelson Vallandingham of Mechanicsville, MD and the late George Francis Vallandingham.

On August 28, 1970, George married Laura C. Vallandingham at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. Together, they celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love and devotion.

George was raised on his family's farm, where he worked alongside his father before beginning a 20-year career as a mechanic at Bell Motor Company. In 1982, he took over the Potomac Gardens General Store and Bar from his father-in-law, managing the business until his retirement in 2020. Known for his hard work and dedication, George made lasting contributions to his community through his work and friendships.

George had a passion for life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and playing cards, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Vallandingham, of Coltons Point, MD; his loving mother, Margaret Shirley Vallandingham, of Mechanicsville, MD; and his children, George L. "Bo" Vallandingham, Jr. (Jessie) of Avenue, MD, Charles Vallandingham (Marcie) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Lisa M. Gardiner (Kevin) of Hollywood, MD. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren, Christina Wallace, Tyler Vallandingham, Kacie Vallandingham, Anthony Gardiner, and Dale Vallandingham. George also leaves behind his siblings, Frankie Vallandingham, Mike Vallandingham, Johnny "Pork" Vallandingham (Linda), Timmy Vallandingham, and Tammy Wood (Wade); and his sister-in-law, Sandy Vallandingham.
George was preceded in death by his father, his brother, Roger Lee Vallandingham, and his sister-in-law, Pat Vallandingham.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Deacon Ammon Ripple officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Frankie Vallandingham, Tyler Vallandingham, Anthony Gardiner, Dale Vallandingham, Junior Farrell, and Kenny Hammett. Honorary pallbearers will include Christina Wallace, Kacie Vallandingham, and Donnie Guy.
