Raymond Wilson Davis, 83, of Hollywood, MD passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the Hospice of St. Mary's in Callaway, Maryland.
He was born June 3, 1941, in Washington, D.C. to the late Hugh Davis and Maggie Petty Davis. On June 13, 1960, Raymond married his beloved wife, Beverly Jean (Davidson) Davis in Washington, D.C. Together they celebrated over 56 wonderful years of marriage before she died in February 2017, a heartbreak he never got over. Ray loved working with his hands, especially as the owner of R.W. Davis Ceramic Tile. On the weekends and after retirement, he would often be found helping a neighbor or his son fix something in their homes. Ray enjoyed living on the Patuxent River, especially when his grandchildren came to visit. Many summer days were spent watching his family tube, fish, and catch crabs. His family has many fond memories of sitting on the pier eating crabs which he always made sure were waiting in the crab pots each weekend. Ray loved his family immensely and he showed that by attending events that were important to each of them, especially his daughter's Special Olympic sporting events. Ray welcomed everybody in his home as if they were family and it wasn't long after you arrived that you were probably offered a cold beer. Ray is survived by his children, Debbie Davis of Hollywood, MD and Raymond Davis (Mary) of Huntingtown, MD; his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Alison Davis and Rachel Woodburn (Thomas); and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings Robert Davis, Pauline Schoenbauer, Betty Holcomb, and Louise Williams. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Joe Orlando, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650. |
