Dorothy Mae Borras passed away on January 5, 2025. She was born on May 9, 1938, to Roy and Nellie Young in Washington, D.C. Dorothy was married to her beloved husband, Ramon Borras for 66 wonderful years. She retired in 1970 from the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a secretary for many years.

Dorothy is survived by her husband and two children; David Borras (Tressa) of Islamorada, Florida, and William Borras (Debbie) of Tabernash, Colorado. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Jacob Ramon and Katherine Renee (Jeff) of Denver Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nellie Young, five brothers, Buster Young, Albert Young, Billy Young, Robert Young, Harry Young, and one sister, Ruby Funkhouser.

Dorothy (Dot, Dotsie) became a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church on March 25, 1952. She served as president of the women's group from 1994-2012. She remained an active member for the remainder of her life.

She volunteered for so many things; cemetery cleanup, Mother-Daughter dinners, Easter Egg Hunts, delivered Meals on Wheels for 18 years, vacation bible study, elementary school tutor, shut in visitation ministry for the church. She crocheted shawls for the ladies she visited.

Her hobbies included participating in a knitting club, machine embroidery, crocheting, sewing, cooking, painting, and quilting.

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with the service beginning at 11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 17400 Aquasco Rd, Brandywine, MD 20613. Interment will follow after the service in the church cemetery.
