Betty Lee Hughes
August 20, 1934 - November 16, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Lee Hughes. Betty was born on August 20, 1934, to Charles A. Wriggleworth and Ethel J. Wrigglesworth in Anacostia, Washington DC. She married the love of her life, Arthur Francis Hughes, on January 19, 1955, and together they shared many wonderful years.

Betty dedicated 26 years of her life working as an executive secretary, where she excelled in her role and touched the lives of many with her kindness and professionalism. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her sons Glenn R. Hughes and Steven C. Hughes, and her husband Arthur F. Hughes. She is survived by her son Kevin W. Hughes of Mechanicsville, MD, her daughter Julie Hughes of Leonardtown, MD, her daughter-in-law Michele J. Hughes, 5 wonderful grandchildren - Steven Hughes Jr, Kirstyn Grime, Kyle Hughes, Joshua Hughes, and Hannah Hughes, and 4 precious great-grandchildren.

Affectionately known as Betty Boop, Betty had a passion for animals and crafts, with a special love for dogs. She enjoyed collecting shells at the beach and was an avid collector of mouse figurines.

Betty's warm smile and loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Let us cherish the memories we shared with her and find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. at 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will follow after the service at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
