Jean (Jones) Stephenson, better known as "Sissy", passed away peacefully at her home on October 16, 2024 in Newburg, MD.
Born May 24, 1962 to Katherine "Ann" (Thompson) and the late James "Jimboy" Lenzy Jones. Sissy lived her rambunctious life in Charles County, MD with her four older brothers James "Bubba", Tommy, Arthur, and Paul. A special connection existed between Bubba and Sissy as they both shared the same birthday as their father, Jimboy, May 24th. She is now reunited with her beloved Father Jimboy and her two brothers Bubba and Tommy (Kim). She is also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Donna and Nephew Kyle. Sissy leaves behind her devoted husband, Darryl, of 35 years, and her children; Joshua Stephenson and Rebecca Stephenson (Daniel). She has three grandchildren, often referred to as her ducklings; Camden, Aubree, and Macie. She is also survived by her mother Ann, brothers Paul (Sharee) and Arthur, and her sister-in-law Brenda. Sissy leaves behind lasting relationships with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends, especially her nephew and partner in crime Michael Jones. She worked many jobs throughout her life but found the most joy in her time at Capt. Billy's Crab House. She loved her Billy's crew like family and made many fond memories over the years. During the summer months, it was not uncommon for her family and friends to pop in for a bite to eat and a visit with Sissy. Sissy enjoyed quality time with those she loved. She loved to craft, play cards, and could be found at the casino from time to time. She was always up for an adventure, even a midnight newspaper route with her nephew Jason Jones. Often the life of the party and a part of so many core memories with her loved ones, Sissy always left us smiling. Sissy relished her time as Nana. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, board games, and soaking up many hours of snuggles with her ducklings. She found tremendous joy in being a part of their lives every day. Sissy was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, loyal, and brave. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with friends and family and leaves behind a legacy of love. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday November 17, 2024 at the Newburg Volunteer Fire Department (12245 Rock Point Road, Newburg MD 20664). Visiting starts at 1:00pm with Prayers at 2:00pm.
