Robert Barrett, 70, of Bluffton, SC passed away the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2009. Born in Lusby, Maryland, Robert has lived in Sun City, Hilton Head since 1998.

Robert served his country in the Air Force and was a pioneer in introducing computers to the Maryland education system. Even in retirement he was actively involved in improving education standards in Beaufort County.

Robert was known for his love for his family and for life itself. He taught his family the values of hard work, love and compassion. Robert's ideas and values will continue to live in all of us.

He is survived by his wife, Sonia; children, David and Bonnie Barrett of Lusby, Maryland and Diana and Eugene O'Neil of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Christal, Lauren, Kayla, Tanya, Christen, Patrick and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Thalia, Marco and Emma and brothers, James and Thomas. He will be sorely missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The American Organ Transplant Association, 21175 Tomball Parkway #194, Tomball, TX 77070 or the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden St., Columbia, SC 29201. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
