It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wesley Clyde Thompson a beloved husband father grandfather brother and friend who left this world on September 11 2024 at the age of 80 Born in Washington DC to Wesley Thompson and Fannie Irish Wes was a man of unwavering values and immense kindness

Wes married the love of his life Evelyn on March 24 1973 Together they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories celebrating 51 fulfilling years of marriage Though they faced the heartache of losing their first child Mark they found joy in welcoming their second son Craig

After living in Camp Springs the family later moved to La Plata Maryland in 1983 where they continued to create a warm and loving home

At the age of 18 Wes left for San Diego to join the Navy A proud patriot Wes served his country in the Navy as an electrical technician for four years His commitment to supporting local service members and the Wounded Warrior charity reflected his deep respect for those who serve

Wes attended the University of Maryland

Wes enjoyed a successful career in auto sales retiring in 2002 In retirement he enjoyed his passions for woodworking golf boating and fishing He enjoyed spending many peaceful moments on Cobb Island surrounded by friends and family

Wes was an avid Redskins fan

His three grandchildren Mallory Nicholas and Michael were the light of his life and he took great joy in ensuring they had everything they needed and felt loved

He loved his black labs Laddy and Earle They would ride shotgun in his truck on his many trips to Cobb Island

A devoted father Wes instilled a strong work ethic in Craig teaching by example the importance of honesty and fairness

He was known for being a good listener with many seeking his advice and wisdom His strong independent spirit combined with his gentle and generous nature made him a treasured friend to all who knew him Wes was a happy man

Wes leaves behind his loving wife Evelyn son Craig and daughterinlaw Jill grandchildren Mallory Nicholas and Michael sister Denise and her husband Dale numerous nieces nephews loving inlaws and a wide circle of friends

Wes wanted his friends and family to know how much they meant to him and to thank them for the joy they brought into his life Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday September 28 Visitation will be held from 1100 AM to 100 PM followed by the service at ArehartEchols Funeral Home located at 211 St Marys Ave in La Plata MD

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that you take a friend to lunch and raise a toast to Wes honoring his spirit and the connections he valued so deeply
