Thomas Richard "Tommy" Johnson, 68, of Hollywood, MD passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, at his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born on December 5, 1955, in Leonardtown, MD to the late James Manning Johnson and Mary Estelle Guy Johnson.

Tommy is a lifelong St. Mary's County resident and a graduate of Chopticon High School in 1975. He was. a past member of the HVFD. On April 30, 1977, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Wathen Johnson at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Together they celebrated over 47 wonderful years of marriage. He was employed for over 33 dedicated years at the Architect of the Capital until his retirement on December 31, 2011. He also owned Tommy's Small Engine Repair shop in where he loved to work. He took great pride in himself and enjoyed helping people.

Tommy was an avid car fan and enjoyed going to car shows from anywhere from Maryland to Virginia enjoying time with family and many great friends raising money for Hospice. Tommy enjoyed going to NASCAR races, His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, and during football season he would tune in to his (redskins) team. But his favorite football player was Patrick Mahomes. Tommy, his wife, and family, friends went to visit many places, from Niagara Falls, Canada, to Cruise to the Caribbean Islands, and squeezed in Cancun for their 25th Anniversary, but of all the places he traveled his favorite place to visit was Myrtle Beach, S.C. In addition to his beloved wife, Pat, Tommy is also survived by his children: Melissa Johnson and Braden Johnson; his grandchildren: Braden Johnson, Asher Johnson, Peyton Wathen; Neveah Johnson; Austyn Johnson, and Yanni Skordalos. Also surviving Tommy are his siblings: Phyllis Mattingly (Duck), deceased Jimmy (Phyllis), and Kenny Johnson (Patti); and extended family and friends. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, he loved them all, and he loved children so much. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends for Tommy's Life Celebration on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Reverend Raymond Schmidt will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 43927 St. John's Road, Hollywood, MD 20636. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Wathen, George Wathen, Eddie Wathen, Dillon Wathen, Ed Greer, Wayne Booth, and John Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be his pride and joy, his grandchildren.
