John Raymond Stone, age 77, of Huntingtown, MD, formerly of North Beach, MD, died March 22, 2009 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. He was born August 13, 1931 in Anacostia in the District of Columbia, the son of George T. and Dorothy Loving Stone.

He graduated from Anacostia High School in 1949, and entered the US Army March 5, 1952. He served during the Korean conflict, earning the Korean Service, United Nations Service and National Defense Service Medals. He was discharged from active duty as a corporal on February 11, 1954, and from the Army Reserve on July 28, 1961.

He married Charlene A. Vierbuchen on December 21, 1956 and they lived in Bladensburg, MD until moving to North Beach, MD in 1969. He was employed as chief of security at Civista Hospital in LaPlata, MD, and been retired since 1997. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, and enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his wife on March 8, 2001.

He is survived by daughters Terri L. Mandley and her husband Gary of North Beach, MD and Tracy Lowry and her husband Robert of Huntingtown, with whom Mr. Stone had lived for the past four years. He is also survived by a son Craig R. Stone of Lothian, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and his mother-in-law Alma Vierbuchen of North Beach, MD.
