William Joseph "Bill" Brickey, Sr., 68, of Lusby, MD formerly of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away on March 12, 2009. He was born on July 2, 1940 in Beaver, Ohio to the late Joseph Woodrow Brickey and Glenna Corrine Pennington.
Bill was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Fort Knox, KY and Germany. He served from September 11, 1957 to September 8, 1960 when he was honorably discharged. Bill went on to become a Union Welder with the Ironworkers Local No. 5 and retired in 1987 after 25+ years of service. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, National Rifle Association, AARP, and loved to go camping, hiking, hunting, traveling, and sightseeing. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Keith Brickey. He is survived by his children William J. Brickey, Jr. and his wife Courtlyn of Lusby, MD, Joanne L. Lee and her husband Kenneth of Huntingtown, MD, Donna Sue Brickey of Great Mills, MD, and Lorne D. Brickey and his wife Meg of Charlotte Hall, MD. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis Johnson of Alachua, FL and twelve grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ken Lee, Jr., Bruce Lee, Joe Goldsmith, Allen Alvey, Alex Morgan, and Dale Henderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Brickey, III and Curtis Lee. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick Hancock officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 11AM in the MD Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
