Alan Kristian Fjellheim, age 55, of Hughesville, MD, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Hadley Memorial Hospital. Born August 23, 1953 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he was the son of Gudrun Wold Fjellheim and the late Kristian Fjellheim.

Mr. Fjellheim moved to this area from Seattle, Washington in 1987. He was a Program Specialist with the Department of Education and an Adjunct Professor at the College of Southern Maryland. Having many talents, he composed Classical music, played piano and performed his works at Sumner School and Strathmore Hall. He was a member of the Friday Morning Music Club. He was also an artist who enjoyed painting, sketching and working with charcoals.

Mr. Fjellheim is survived by his wife, Glenda Jo Edwards Fjellheim; his mother, Gudrun Fjellheim; mother-in-law, Irene Edwards and sister, Anne Gwen Bettger (David). He was the loving father of Alexis Brianne Fjellheim, Anne Elisabeth Fjellheim and step-children, Andrea Roxanne Pitkin and Scott Woodard.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Alex Miller, Brock Woodard and Kaitlin Woodard; nieces, Jillian Stoknes, Kristin Shepherd and great niece, Malia Shepherd.

Family will receive friends to celebrate Alan's life on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 9:00 - 11:00a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bryantown, MD, 20617.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 N. Halstead, Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60622-2691.
