Teresa Gibson passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023 at the Solomons Nursing Center. Teresa was born in Solomons, MD on November 21, 1922 to Harry B. Trueman and Grace D. Trueman. She had one brother, H. Gordon Trueman.

Teresa graduated from Calvert High School and attended Baltimore Business School. She met the love of her life, Marshall Gibson, at a church dance in Huntingtown. The couple were married April 23, 1942 while Marshall was a member of the U.S. Army. Teresa moved to Massachusetts where he was stationed until his deployment to Europe for the war effort. The marriage produced a son, Marshall Gibson, Jr. (Hoot). Upon Marshall's discharge from the military, the couple built a home in St. Leonard where they resided until his passing in 1992.

Teresa loved baking, crocheting, reading and playing cards. There was seldom a time when there was not a fresh homemade cake or pie on the kitchen counter. She was always happy to have a dessert available for any family or guest who visited. For many years, Teresa baked a dessert every week that she took to the St. Leonard Firehouse for bingo night. She was a founding and longtime member of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire and Rescue Auxillary. Teresa was also a member of the Calvert County Lioness and the Order of The Eastern Star. Another of Teresa's passions was playing the card game 500. She was an excellent player and took great joy when she was able to beat Marshall in a game. They spent many evenings with family members or friends playing cards and always ending with a fresh made dessert. Teresa was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church her entire life and active in the church until her later years. She was a co-owner of H.B. Trueman Lumber Company with locations in St. Leonard and Huntingtown, founded by her father, for fifty years until the business was sold.

Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Stewart Gibson and brother, H. Gordon Trueman. She is survived by her son, Marshall S. Gibson, Jr. and wife Gail of Solomons. Also surviving are grandchildren, Crystal Hill, Angela Delvacchio and Phillip Stone IV, great-grandchildren, Alana and Arika Hill, Michael, Sophia, Grant and Rylan Delvacchio and Phillip and Wyatt Stone.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 11000 H.G. Trueman Road, Lusby, MD. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
