Edward William Bowen, 60, of Waldorf, MD, died February 28, 2009, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD.
Mr. Bowen was a bulk mail clerk for 37 years with the U.S. Postal Service at Central Avenue, MD. He was the veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1967 to 1969. He was a stamp collector, long-time blood donor to the American Red Cross, and a member of the American Legion Post, Waldorf, MD. Born April 9, 1948, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Edgar Allen Bowen and Edna Insley. Predeceased by his father; sister, Leta Bowen. Survived by his mother, Edna Insley of DE; son, Michael Bowen of Waldorf, MD; daughter, De Anna Bowling of La Plata, MD; step-son, John Lehman of CT; step-daughter, Joyce Close of La Plata, MD; brothers, Robert Bowen of DE; David Bowen of CA. Also survived by grandchildren, William and Andrew Bowling. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from 5-8PM, at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD, with a funeral service beginning at 7PM. Fr. Mark Smith will officiate. Interment will be at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery on March 12, 2009, at 11AM. Honorary pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard.
