Mary H. Holley passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary H. Holley a native of St. Mary's County was born in Medley's Neck in Leonardtown, Maryland on March 23, 1930. She was the oldest daughter of John and Helen Curtis and the oldest of her twelve siblings. She was a graduate of Banneker High School and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Mary worked in Washington D.C. for thirty-six years at various Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Private Duty nursing, until now she was the Private Duty Nurse for our family.

Mary met and married Louis E. Holley in 1953; there were no children from this union. In 1975 she moved back to St. Mary's County and traveled daily for many years back and forth to Washington, D.C. for her job.

Mary retired when Louis started the refuse business; this allowed her the opportunity to care for her parents until their respective deaths. After which, she became a full-time nurse for her husband and family.

Mary loved bowling and was extremely determined to teach her siblings to bowl as well. She also enjoyed baking cakes, pies, peach cobbler and many other desserts. She received a Certificate of appreciation at her church "Bethesda Methodist" from the usher board of Bethesda on Jan. 1997-1998.

Mary also enjoys quilting and has made quilts for all her sisters in beautiful colors, she loved how they all turned out and her sisters loved them also.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother (Helen Rebecca Mason Curtis), her father (John H. Curtis Sr.), four brothers, Joseph Mason Curtis, John H. Curtis Jr., Vincent Curtis, Paul E. Curtis and two sisters, Mary Evelyn Curtis and Margaret A. Rufus. She is survived by her sisters, Alice M. Allen, Helen R. Wilson, Frances A. Diggs and Mary L. Allen-Rochester and one brother John Calvert Curtis, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
