Raymond Carlton Jones, Sr., 83, of Huntingtown passed away November 22, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 21, 1939, in Washington, D.C. to Burness Calvin and Rose Marie (DiVincenzo) Jones. Raymond was raised in Bradberry Heights and graduated from Suitland High School in 1957. He married Judith Thorne in June 1958, and they lived in Capital Heights before settling in Huntingtown in 1978. He was employed with the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum as an exhibit specialist and part time with the Capital Heights Police Department. Raymond was a life member of the Capital Heights Volunteer Fire Department, where he served in many positions culminating as Assistant Chief. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with machinery and old tractors, collecting locks and handcuffs, and making keys.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Judy, grandson Jonathan Spring, and sister Violet Ann Jones. He is survived by brother Robert E. Jones and wife Rita of Fort Myers, FL, sister Janet L. Mullikan of California, daughters Carol A. Spring of Little River, SC, Kathy L. Ellis and fiancé Earl of Huntingtown, MD, Sharon L. Miller and husband Tom of Asheville, NC, sons Raymond C. Jones, Jr. and wife Vilma of Woodbridge, VA and Stephen M. Jones and wife Sandy of Stevensville, MD, grandchildren Tina Krebs and husband Tim, Lt. Col. Raymond C. Jones III and wife Angelique, Bridget M. Jones, Erika Y. Rogel and husband Moises, Mauricio A. Benitez and wife Jacqueline, Christian S. Fuentes and wife Genesis, Luis Fuentes, Keneth Moreno, Debbi Hooper, Ronald Brown, Jr. and wife Michaela, Jason M. Brown, Justin R. Kerns, Samantha Jones, Amanda Jones, Ryan Jones, and Katelyn Jones, great-grandchildren Jordyn, Daniel, Jacob, Penelope, Scarlett, Elijah, Noah, Rylan, Lucy, Ashley, Aubrey, Alia, Lyla, Caleb, Hudson, Oliver, and Violet. Also surviving are many members of his extended family and close friends.

Serving as Pallbearers and honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons Raymond C. Jones III, Ronald Brown Jr., Jason Brown, Justin Kerns, Ryan Jones, Mauricio Benitez, Christian Fuentes, Luis Fuentes, and Keneth Moreno.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvert Hospice or any Fire Department, Rescue Squadron, or first responder organization of your choosing.
