James Lee "Jim" Letcher, 75, of California, MD, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2022 at his home in California, MD. Born on June 19, 1947 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Frank Letcher and the late Ruth Letcher. Jim was the loving husband of the late Paula Jan Letcher, whom he married on August 29, 1981 in Bowie, MD, and who preceded him in death on March 15, 2020. Jim is survived by his children Shannon Roecker (Andy) of Mechanicsville, MD and James "Jimmy" Letcher (Jennifer) of California, MD, and two grandchildren James "JR" Roecker and Heather Roecker. Along with his brother Richard Letcher of Ogden, UT and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Pauline Poole.
Jim moved to St. Mary's County, MD in 1952 and attended Great Mills High School. He was an exterminator for Kolley's Exterminating for over 30 years.

Jim was a member of the All-American HOG chapter, Chesapeake Ranch Estates Horseshoe Club, Sanner's Lake Sportsman Club, and various fishing clubs. He was an avid fisherman and crabber. He loved going on family cruises.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Louis Larson officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery Bladensburg, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be James "JR" Roecker, Vernon Thoren, Kolby Corrigan, Jim Warman, Rob Littleton, and Gary Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Letcher, Mark Letcher, Paul Letcher, Nate Larson, Eddie Osborne, Walt Hunt and Brad Carey.
