Matthew Franklin Cooper of Cobb Island, Maryland, died suddenly on February 4, 2009 in Mechanicsville, MD. He was 20 years old.

Born on December 8, 1988 in La Plata, MD, Matt was the son of Annalice McKenna Wood and the late Dennis Franklin Cooper.

Matt graduated from La Plata High School in 2006 and joined the U. S. Navy in 2007 and was currently serving at the rank of BUCN/E-3. He also worked part time for David Stine clearing lots and cutting trees and for Cattail Cottage Florist delivering flowers. A member of the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Matt enjoyed ice skating and roller skating, listening to music and playing video games, shooting paint ball guns, playing football and basketball, four-wheeling and fishing, going to the movies and jumping off the Cobb Island bridge and spending time with his friends. He attended the Cobb Island Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother Ann, he is survived by his sister Candice Marie Cooper; maternal grandmother Margaret J. McKenna; paternal grandfather William Franklin Cooper; also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation on Monday, February 16, 2009 from 2PM - 4PM and from 6PM - 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue La Plata, MD where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 9:30AM with the Reverend Joe Blanton officiating. Interment to follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
