We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Thomas Wesley Wagner, Sr., on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, peacefully at his home. Born July 18, 1945, in Gilford, North Carolina to Ruth Burke, he is survived by his wife of 46 years Donna Lee Wagner, his children: Thomas "Tommy" Wagner, Jr., JoAnne Wagner, Carianne Wagner and Bobby Cator, his 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and his brother Clifford Wyrick. He settled in at Potomac Speedway when they opened in 1973 and found his racing family. He was the first track champion with a long history that has been passed down through generations to Tommy Wagner, Jr. and Tommy Wagner III.
