On Friday, 25 March, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., God decided that HE needed Ann Juanita Young, "Shuge", more than we did. Shuge was born to Mary Agnes Young and the late John Francis Dickerson on August 15, 1961, in St. Mary's County, MD. She was educated at Mother Catherine Spalding Catholic School and completed high school at Leonardtown High School.

She was a great artist; put art materials in front of Shuge, and a masterpiece was created. Shuge worked many years serving her community by way of providing healthcare, maintaining facilities, and sharing her love of cooking. She leaves a great legacy to follow.

She has many relatives and friends who she loved and who loved her dearly. They could count on Shuge to fill their guts with delicious meals every Sunday. Whenever she was around it was a guaranteed good time...dancing, singing, and joking. Shuge was the life of the party for sure. Let a good song come on, especially a Chuck Brown Go-Go beat, no doubt Shuge's hips would be moving. Rite Shuge had love for many things but taking care of those she loved was her passion. At any given time, she would be knocking at your door with a bag of food.

She departed this life and gained her angelic wings on her journey to reunite with her father, John Francis Dickerson; grandparents, James Sr. and Marian Young and Aubrey and Loretta Dickerson; sister, Wanda Denise Dickerson; brother, John Francis Dickerson, and brother-in-law, Patrick Cutchember. Many others will be rejoiced to see Shuge in Heaven, and we are sure she will continue to dance, sing, and keep the party going.

Shuge leaves to mourn her departure from this life, her life partner of 34 years, Willie West Burden; mother, Mary Agnes Young; 3 children, Kimberly (Nic) Young, Kendall (Man Man) Young, Kaaliyah (Dink) Burden, and stepdaughter, Martina Burden; 4 grandchildren, Ja'Braelyn Young, Kendall Young, Jayden Young, and Alayah Young; her sisters, Felicia Cutchember, Agnes Dickerson, Pamela Pickeral; brothers, Michael Young and his wife, Catherine, Colvin Young, Keith Young, and Johnathan Yorkshire; her 2 sisters by soul, Brice and Wanda Young, and her closest girlfriends, Gloria King-Smith and Collette Williams. We can't forget to mention her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and honorary relatives.

Shuge's lioness heart didn't allow her to give up easily...she fought until she no longer could. She will truly be missed.

Family and friends will unite on Monday, April 4, 2022 for visitation from 9:00 am - 10:30 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD. Interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38833 Chaptico Road, Mechanicsville, MD.
