Mishel Diane Chase was born on September 17th, 1955, in Washington, D.C. to the late Mary Catherine (Young) and Joseph Frances Chase, Sr. Mishel was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 12th, 2022. Mishel was educated in the St. Mary's County Public School System.
She was employed at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home as a Dietary Aide for 34 years until her untimely passing. Mishel had several jobs including Henson Steakhouse, B&B Maintenance, Pax River Commissary and Marshall's Department Store. Mishel had a great work ethic and took pride in her work. She stayed at each of these places for at least 10 years, often working two jobs at once. When Mishel was not working, she could be found at home, relaxing and watching The Young and The Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful. Mishel loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing Pokeno (her favorite cards were Jack's and fives and she often showed up to play with a huge jar of change that she'd won from everyone at the previous game), eating her Jumbo Original Sunflower Seeds and drinking her Pepsi. She enjoyed spending time with her children. She and Keona shared a love for sarcasm, singing (often off-key), and shopping. Mishel would often call Colin several times a day just to ask, "What are you doing?". She loved picking with Kenny and asking him why he was always shopping. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines and spent Saturday mornings looking for a yard sale. Mishel was one of the favorite aunts and never missed a "Cousins Meeting", usually attending as the only aunt. Mishel was witty and could go "toe-to-toe" with anyone when it came to comebacks. She loved talking on the phone and never missed a call with her niece, Doris and nephews Louis and Matt-Matt. Mishel was a lover of music. Her favorite singer was Whitney Houston. She also listened to Otis Redding and Al Green. You couldn't tell her that she wasn't Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz often singing "Over the Rainbow" around the house. Even when she became ill, she would perk up at the sound of "Redbone" by Childish Gambino or "When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars. She could quote her favorite movies, "The Color Purple" and "Forest Gump" word for word. Mishel loved to shop for home décor and was a great decorator. She could often be counted on to offer an opinion or two about your home décor whether it was asked for or not. Mishel leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Kenneth Chase, Colin Cutchember, and Keona Cutchember; her seven grandchildren, Antoine Yates, Ebony Cutchember, Dionna Cutchember, Kaleya Cutchember, Keon Cutchember, Tyrell Cutchember, Christian Cutchember, and her bonus grandchildren, Trawn Smith, Chardae Smith and Rhyan Davis. She also leaves seven siblings, Juanita Butler, Joseph Chase (Jean), James Chase (Dorothy), Benjamin Chase (Sharon), Joseph Young (Valeen), Mary Alice Young, and William Miles (Lois) and a host of nieces and nephews. Mishel also leaves to cherish her memory many special friends including Joseph Cutchember, Charlene Yates, Bencine Yates, and Keoshia Proctor, Terry Parker, and Miss Ruby Campbell. Mishel was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, parents, Mary Catherine and Joseph Chase; sisters, Agnes Price and Victoria Chase; brothers-in-law, John "Sam" Butler, Sr. and Joseph "Slick" Price and special friend, William "Billy" Butler. Family and friends will unite on Saturday, March 19, 2022 for visitation from 9:30 am - 11:00 am; service from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at Gospel Tabernacle of Prayer Church, 24516 Budds Creek Road, Clements, MD 20624.
