Donald E. Lucia, 78, of Port Tobacco, MD passed away on January 20, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Washington, DC with his wife and two sons by his side, following a fighting battle with cancer.

He was born in Altoona, NY on November 22, 1930 to the late Vila and Eva Lucia.

He served in the United States Air Force for 4 year and worked for Ewing Lumber for 11 years. He then went to work for Miller Lumber for the next 30 years and from there he spent 5 years with Lowe's before retiring in 1995.

He was son of the late Vila Lucia and the late Eva Hemmingway Lucia.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Dolphis Lucia, and one sister, Doris Goodwin.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ella Lucia, two sons, John (Stacey) Lucia of Waldorf, MD, and William (Billy Jo) Lucia of Port Tobacco, MD, two brothers, Roger Lucia and Leward Lucia, both of Altoona, NY, three sisters, Irene Young of Plattsburg, NY, Marie LaValley of Moors Forks, NY, and Theresa Naro of Altoona, NY, and four grandchildren, Mickell, Code, Felicia, and Joseph. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, 2009 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Wake Service at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 11am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677.

Clergy will be the Father Edward Dougherty.

Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 10am with United States Air Force Honors.
