James Edward Garrett, 33, of Waldorf, MD, died January 16, 2009.

Mr. Garrett was a self-employed writer and author. He was a member of Church of Christ in Waldorf, MD. He was a graduate of La Plata High School and Lee University in Cleveland, TN. He loved cooking and being with family, playing the guitar of which he composed some songs.

Born October 22, 1975, in Washington, DC, he was the son of Thomas Eugene Garrett and Nancy Jean Sluznis Garrett.

Survived by his parents; his wife, Krista Garrett; brother, Sean Michael Garrett of Plano, TX; sisters, Kathleen T. and her husband Charles Chisley of La Plata, MD; and Karen M. Garrett of Waldorf, MD; maternal grandson of Dorothy O'Neil of NY; Aunt Trish and Uncle Steven Sluznis, Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Irwin Schiffman, and Aunt Mary Ellen Bergman, all of NY; and cousins, Megan Rodriquez, Stephanie Cleary, and Richard, Natalie, Patrick, and John Sluznis.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2009, from 5-8 PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, La Plata, MD. Funeral service will begin at 7 PM. Rev. Richard Van Horn will officiate.

Interment will be private.
