Bob Leo Murphy of Waldorf, Maryland, died at his home on Saturday, December 27, 2008. He was 77 years old. Born on June 9, 1931 in Barton, Missouri, he was the son of the late Susie Ethel Boggs and Roy Edward Murphy.

Mr. Murphy served in the U. S. Army until he was Honorably Discharged in 1960 at the rank of Corporal. He was a small engine mechanice with the Maryland Tobacco Growers Association for 33 years. Following his retirement in 1985, he became self-employed and repaired small engines at his home. He enjoyed being outdoors working in his garden or you would find him in his work shop fixing chain saws and mowers for family and friends. He loved listening to country music. He was greatly loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Bob Leo Murphy Jr.

He is survived by his wife Olivia "Sissy" Murphy; son Donald R. (Helen) Murphy of Newburg, MD; daughters Charlotte M. (David) Watts of Charlotte Hall, MD, Susie M. (Bill) Slack of La Plata, MD, Olivia L. Murphy of Waldorf, MD, Lisa R. (David) Slack of Waldorf, MD, Nikki (David) Storey of North Carolina, Mandy Beuerlien of North Carolina; brothers George Murphy of Kansas and Jack Murphy of Joplin, MO; also survived by 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation on Thursday, January 1, 2009 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Chapel La Plata, MD where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11AM. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers are Donald and Tommy Murphy, Ray Slack, Nick Watts, Art Miller, Brad Miller, and Paul Miller.
