Derek James Moore, 62, of Nanjemoy, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Born on June 5, 1959 in Washington, DC, he is the son of James Moore and Martha Burke. Raised in Bryson City, North Carolina near the Smoky Mountains, Derek loved to explore nature, hunting & fishing and his Cherokee heritage. He credited his uncles, Henry, Harry and Don for teaching him all about the outdoors.

Derek spent his 35 year career as a plumber and a member of the DC Plumbers Union Local 5. Derek enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on the family farm. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching DC sports, especially the Washington Redskins.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Stephanie; son Christopher, daughter Caitlin and her fiancée Nick Davis.

A visitation will be at held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 3PM, with a service to follow at 4PM.

Visitation and service will be held at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 with Reverend Mark Roberson. A private interment will be held at a later date.
