Mr. Van Dyke was a Steamfitter with the Steamfitter's Union Local # 602 for 25 years. He was a member of the St. Columba Lodge #150 and of the Catholic faith for 25 years. He was an avid football fan (Dallas Cowboys), loved crossword puzzles, especially those in the Washington Post, had a good sense of humor, and was known by his neighbors as "the Leaf Burner of 925." He loved being at the ocean and spending time with his two grandchildren, Tyler and Autumn.
He was son of the late Percy J. Van Dyke, Sr. and Madeline Louise Maguire Van Dyke. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife, Edna L. Van Dyke. He is survived by his son, Robert F. (Maria) Van Dyke of Oklahoma, and five daughters, Roberta F. Alexander of Hughesville, MD, Violet E. (Michael) Grimes of Indian Head, MD, Theresa M. (Michael) Demmick of King George, VA, Bridgette D. (Thomas) Van Dyke of Brandywine, MD, and Sharon M. (Wayne) Burch of La Plata, MD. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 27, 2008 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Md. A Funeral Service will follow on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Clergy will be the Father Jerry Gamrot. Interment will be private. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service. |
