Helen Elizabeth Turner, Age 70 of La Plata, Maryland.

Helen Elizabeth Turner more affectionately called "Posie" was born on August 16, 1938 in Bel Alton, Maryland to the late Robert Leo Turner and the late Mary Elizabeth Jordan Turner.

Posie grew up in Charles County and attended the Charles County Public Schools, graduating from Bel Alton High School in 1956 where she was Valedictorian of her class. After graduating High School she continued her education and graduated from Bowie State College now known as Bowie State University. After college she began her career an educator with the Charles County Public School System. Posie later accepted employment with the Federal Government at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland and retired after 30 years of service.

Posie loved dancing, shopping, hanging out and dining with her sister and friends. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary #301 of the Knights of St. John #309, La Plata, Maryland Command.

Posie was a proud mother to her baby boy the late Tyrone Ignatius Turner who was the center and joy of her life.

Peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland, Posie left this earthly life for life eternal.

In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her brother, DeSales Turner, sister, Thelma Douglas and niece, Sheilah Morris.

Left to cherish fond memories are her grandson, Tyrone Turner, Jr., sisters, Shirley Duckett and Dorothy Collins, nieces, Melody Barnes, Cheryl Short, Angela Williams, Theresa Douglas, Anita Turner and Denise Turner, nephews, Donald, Larnel, Wayne, Andrew, Dale and Joe , a special cousin, Marie Winston and extended family, Jahmal Hill and Lovene Brooks and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of St. John #309 La Plata, Maryland Command.

Her Viewing will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008, 7 to 9 pm, Prayers, 8:00 pm at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, (State Route #227 Pomonkey) Indian Head, Maryland and on Saturday, December 27, 2008, 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
