Barbara Whitney Conklin, 64, of Chesapeake Beach passed away January 21, 2021. She was born October 20, 1956 in Fort Belvoir, VA to Cecil Owen and Marguerite Rose (Delano) Whitney. Barbara was born into a military family and lived in Japan for 3½ years as a child before moving to Mt. Rainier. She married George Francis Conklin on May 31, 1986 and lived in Colmer Manor before moving to Riva. In the mid 1990's Barbara and George purchased the Breeze-In Country Store in Chesapeake Beach and later the home across the street. After operating the store for many years, they eventually retired. Following retirement, Barbara began a small seamstress company out of her house and also worked part time with George at the North Beach Boardwalk. Barbara was a very religious person who enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to Christian music, singing Karaoke, puzzles, art, drawing, painting, and sewing. She was extremely positive and had a great attitude towards life. She was kind, giving, and never had a negative thing to say about anyone.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband George Francis Conklin, parents Cecil and Marguerite Whitney, son Robert Linnenkamp, and brother Douglas Whitney. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Williams and her husband Dale of Upper Marlboro, granddaughter Chelsea Linnenkamp of Pasadena, stepdaughter Candace Sigai and her husband Dennis of Salisbury, stepson Robert Conklin of Millsboro, DE, nephews R. Shane Ciccarelli and wife Amy of Minot, ND, Christopher Leeland and wife Christine of Pasadena, and Alexander Whitney and wife Danielle of Westminster, niece Stephanie Bearns and husband Joey of Prince Frederick and Rachel Whitney, great niece Shannon Ciccarelli and great nephew Shane Ciccarelli, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
