A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 11 AM in St. Cecelia Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Shadwell officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery.

Viewing/Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2006 from 5:00 -8:00PM with Prayers being said at 7PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. A Viewing/Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Margaret Louise "Peggy" Carroll, 63, of Lexington Park, MD died October 31, 2006 in Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Born June 18, 1943 in St. James, MD she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Margaret Madeline Fenwick and was the oldest of 14 siblings.

She attended St. Peter's Claver Elementary School and Cardinal Gibbons High School. She graduated from Jarboeville High School in June 1963. In her earlier years, she worked as a Mess Attendant at the Enlisted Dining Hall at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Later, she was employed at the St. Mary's County Board of Education in September 1973, as a part-time employee in the cafeteria for both, Esperanza Middle School and Green Holly School. In 1984, she moved exclusively to Green Holly School where she assisted the mentally challenged students in their educational development. Later on, when Green Holly School became Green Holly Elementary School she was promoted to Cafeteria Leader until her retirement in December 2003, after more than 30 years of service.

One June 24, 1967, Peggy was united in holy matrimony to James Edward Carroll. They were blessed with three children. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Cecilia Church. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, traveling, bingo, trips to the casinos and spending time with family and friends. She lived each day to the fullest and had a heart of gold. Because of her heart and generosity, she won the love and respect of many. She was the loving wife of 39 years to James Edward Carroll and the devoted mother of Michael E. Fenwick, Sr. and his wife Christine of Lexington Park, MD, Yvonne M. Brooks and her husband Tony of California, MD and Melvin J. Carroll, Sr. and his wife Wendy of Great Mills, MD.

She is also survived by her eight grandchildren; Eric, Jr., Troy, Melvin, Jr., Marcus, Takiera, Travis, Renee and Michael, Jr.; siblings; George E. Fenwick and his wife Queenie, Agnes C. Fenwick, Mary P. Miles and her husband James, Arlene M. Carter and her husband Robert, Catherine D. Fenwick-Bush and her husband Thomas all of Lexington Park, MD, Robert I. Fenwick, Sr. and his wife Dorothy and Charles R. Fenwick and his wife Glenda all of Memphis, TN, Joseph N. Fenwick and his wife Jackie of Long Island, NY, Alma E. Somerville and her husband Pernell, of Hollywood, MD, Brenda F. Butler and her husband Darnell, Philip L. Fenwick and his wife Allison, Phyllis M. Stevens and her husband William all of Great Mills, MD. She was also survived by two aunts, Annie C. Carroll of Lexington Park, MD and Margaret Gardiner of Baltimore, MD; her mother-in-law Sarah Chase, sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Carroll, Barbara Chase, Phyllis Chase and brother-in-law Raymond Chase; eight godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Mildred R. Fenwick.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 6, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7:00PM. The family will also receive friends in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Rev. Damian Shadwell officiating.

Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George E. Fenwick, Joseph N. Fenwick, Charles R. Fenwick, Robert I. Fenwick, Philip L. Fenwick and Raymond F. Chase. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eric A. Brooks, Jr., Travis J. Fenwick, Marcus J. Carroll, Melvin J. Carroll, Jr., Troy A. Brooks and Michael E. Fenwick, Jr.
