Peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland, Dorothy L. (Brown) Carroll departed this life. Dorothy was born on September 13, 1915 in Nanjemoy, Maryland to the late William Henry Brown and the late Rose Virginia (Anderson) Brown.

She was a faithful wife to the late Anthony Carroll and dedicated mother to their one son the late Jerome N. Carroll. She grew up fondly being called by her nickname Tump. She lived her entire life in the Nanjemoy/Ironsides area. She became a resident at the Charles County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in La Plata, Maryland for the past two years.

She was a loyal member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Ironsides, Maryland and was the Mother of the Church.

Dorothy was a kind, sweet, compassionate, caring, gentle, never complaining, always cheerful, never uttering a harsh word, a lady of distinction and truly one of God's saints.

Loving as her own children, were her dedicated niece, Ruby Thomas and nephew, Wm. Ronny Brown; brother-in-law Sterlyn Carroll, sisters-in-law Ruby Warfield & Elmyra Mays; godson, Thaddeus Posey and many more relatives and dear friends will truly miss her quiet spirit.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 Viewing Services: 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingston Road, Pomonkey, Maryland.

Funeral Services: 12:00 pm (closed casket) at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 6135 Port Tobacco Road, Ironsides, Md.

Interment Services: Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery, Ironsides, Maryland.
