Jewell Mattingly Bragunier, of Port Tobacco, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, after a brief illness. Jewell was born September 5, 1931, in Pisgah, Maryland, to the late Ashley Mattingly and Daisy Welch Mattingly.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William Robert "Bobby" Bragunier and six siblings: Aurelia Perry; Marion Bowie; Jean Abel; Thelma Bowie; June Racey and two brothers: Leonard Mattingly and James Mattingly. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Feldman, and her husband, Patrick Trotta; her sons, William "Dale" Bragunier, and his wife, Amy Rodriguez Bragunier; Robert "Doug" Bragunier, and his wife, Roberta Curkendall Bragunier; 5 grandchildren: Katie DeLay (Terry "Joe"); Lindsey Weekley (Nicholas); Emily Bragunier (Sean Simmons); Brooke Bragunier; William Bragunier; and 5 great-grandchildren: Jackson Delay; Addison Weekley; Colton Weekley; Owen Delay; and Everett Delay.

She retired from the Department of the Navy after 40 years as the Navy Real Estate Director. She was an active member of the Western Charles County Democratic Club and held the position of president for 27 years. She was an active member of the Roman Catholic Ministry of Charles County; the Garden Club of Charles County Maryland; and the Mount Aventine Foundation. She loved playing golf; watching the Washington Nationals and the Capitals; eating fat blue crabs; and spending time with family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine - St. Ignatius Catholic Church, P. O. Box 278, Port Tobacco, Maryland 20677. In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
