Mary Ellen Sheehan, 90, of Waldorf, MD, passed away November 8, 2008, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD.
Mrs. Sheehan was an electronics technician for 35 years and retired in 1983 from Watkins/Johnson Corporation in Gaithersburg, MD. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Waldorf, MD. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and she grew up in County Mayo, Ireland. She returned to the United States in 1935 attending Eastern High School. She was married in 1940 to Patrick Sheehan. She liked bowling and was on many leagues, was a member of the Irish American Club in Washington, DC, enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling and always seeking knowledge and self-improvement. Before her 74th birthday she received the Red Cross beginners swimming patch. Born September 21, 1918, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Carney and the late Margaret Gallagher Carney. Predeceased by her parents; husband Patrick Sheehan; daughter Catherine M. (Thomas) Rawlings; brother John Carney. She is survived by her daughter, M. Teresa and her husband Bob Baldesari of Waldorf, MD; sons, John P. Sheehan of Waldorf, MD; and Michael J. and his wife Linda Sheehan of Riva, MD; eight grandchildren, Yvonne Kepler, Thomas Rawlings, Jr., Danny Sheehan, Shannon Boone, Patrick Sheehan, Clint Rawlings, Michael J. Sheehan, Jr., and Megan Singleterry. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren. Visitation is Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 10-11AM, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Waldorf, MD, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11AM. Msgr. Bill Parent will officiate. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Pallbearers are Thomas Rawlings, Jr., Danny and Patrick Sheehan, Clint Rawlings, Michael Sheehan, Jr., Charles Kepler, Russell Boone and Aaron Singleterry.
