James Verne Bonta, 82 of Charlotte Hall, MD died on November 6, 2008 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home Assisted Living, Charlotte Hall, MD.

Born on September 9, 1926 in Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Henry Schulz and Beulah Love Higgins Schulz. Mr. Bonta was Retired from the U.S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he worked in the food & beverage business. After retiring as a bartender and chef at Holiday Inn & Sheraton Hotel, he was a Bail Bondsman at American Bail Bonds in Saluda, VA.

He was preceded in death by his late beloved wife, Elizabeth Tipton Bonta, 2 brothers, Marvin and Robert Bonta, and 1 granddaughter, Traci Kristeen Bonta.

Survived by children, Peggy Ann (Arthur) Brant, Karen L. (Aubrey) Beckham, Shirley L. (Gerald) Adkins, James Verne Bonta, II, Gordon Ray (Mary) Bonta, Wayne Denby (Linda) Bonta, and Charles Richard (Ruthie) Bonta, 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Family received friends on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 7-9PM in the Celebration of James's life at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch RD, Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 11AM with Reverend Keith Corrick officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 2PM.
