Clellan Kenneth Keefe, 95, of Lusby, MD died November 3, 2008 at Washington Hospital Center. He was born September 20, 1913 in Louisville, KY. Clellan was the son of the late Katherine Schone Trauth, and step-father Charles Frederick Trauth.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Alverta Langley Keefe of Solomons, MD, daughter and son-in-law Judy and Bill Gerwig of Taneytown, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Carrie Forrest of Lusby, son and daughter-in-law Bill and Carolyn Keefe of Lusby, son-in-law Felix Patrick Gigliotti, also of Lusby. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Lavinia Gigliotti. He is remembered lovingly by 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A U.S. Navy veteran of 30 years, he was one of nine brothers who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. He also had the distinction of being a Pearl Harbor survivor, having served aboard the light cruiser USS Phoenix (CL-46) during the infamous attack. He retired from the Navy in 1959 as a Chief Warrant Officer while assigned to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Following retirement he built his home on the waterfront in nearby Rousby Hall, where he enjoyed a bountiful life surrounded by family and friends for nearly 50 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 1:00 PM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Solomons, MD. Interment will be private.
