Geraldine Adele Gross was called home to God on Saturday, October 25, 1008 at her home in Upper Marlboro, MD. She was born to the late Thomas Irving Gross, Sr. and Irene Letha Gross on December 14, 1953.
Geraldine graduated from Great Mills High School In 1972. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. with her aunt Anna Gross. She worked for the United Food Commercial Workers until her retirement in 2007. Geraldine enjoyed shopping, her book club and dressing in the latest fashions. Geraldine loved to travel and traveled quite extensively in both the U.S. and abroad. Her last major trip was to Jerusalem. Geraldine loved her family and delighted in family gatherings. She enjoyed saying the blessing at family gatherings and always expressed her appreciation of a good meal. She was very caring and always willing to lend a hand in any way needed. Geraldine was ordained as a minister in 2003. She was a very active church member. At the time of her death, she was a member of Lords Church of Transformation with Pastor Sylvia People. Geraldine leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Irene Gross of Piney Point, MD; six brothers: Mack (Alice) and Gilbert Lawrence of Waldorf, MD; David (Karen) Lawrence of Edgewater, NJ; Donald (Shirley) Gross of Mechanicsville, MD; and Steven and James (Linda) Gross of California, MD; four sisters: Teresa Lawrence, May and Charlotte Gross of Piney Point, MD; Gloria Church of Clinton, MD; a special nephew Wayne Lawrence (Mary Ann) of Cumberland, MD; two uncles: Joseph Lawrence and Robert Gross and one great aunt: Anna Gross. Along with her father, Geraldine was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Gross, Jr. Geraldine had very special people who touched her heart in so many caring words: Ms. Delores Jackson, Minister James and Lanora Middleton, Minister Everett and Celeste Williams, Minister Jay and Clara Holmes, Jerry and Mae McLean and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM in St. Mark's UAME Church, Valley Lee, MD where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM.
