Pamela Ann Margaret Moran, 68, of Lexington Park, MD passed away on August 8, 2019 at home with her husband by her side.

Pamela was born on September 10, 1950 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, U.K. to Sidney Brook and Margaret Scoon (Cooper) Brook (Deceased).

Influenced by her mother's British Red Cross service, Pamela was drawn to nursing at a young age and immensely enjoyed her 36 year long career in the field. She started out in 1973, as a Licensed Child Care Nurse in England. She stayed in nursing until her retirement in 2014, as a widely respected and well-liked Board Certified Med-Surgical Registered Nurse in St. Mary's County. Along the way she worked at several large British Medical Institutions caring for the mentally ill in the British Midlands and St Alban's near London until 1975. She was lured to balmier climes by an advertisement for Nurses by Bermuda Hospitals Board. Pamela cherished her time living in Bermuda. Her fun loving and easy- going personality fit in well there and when Pam was not working, you could find her riding around the island on a little blue moped she had named "Phyllis". Pamela worked at St. Brendan's Hospital in Bermuda until her marriage (to Daniel) in 1977 and subsequent birth of her son (Nicholas) in 1978.

Following her husband's career, the family moved from Bermuda's tropical lushness to the arid high desert of Southern California in 1980. She and her son were witnesses to history as NASA Special Invited Guests to the first landing of the Space Shuttle at Edwards AFB, where her husband worked. Shortly after the birth of her second child (Sarah) changes in career opportunities led to the growing family's move to St Mary's County, Maryland in 1981. Pamela immediately fell in love with the area's seasonal water landscapes and the county's friendly residents who warmly welcomed her from the outset. It was in Maryland that her third child (Megan) was born. Overcoming differences in her international nursing credentials, Pamela began work at St. Mary's Hospital in 1987 as a Technician and subsequently graduated from Charles County Community College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing in 1993. After additional years at St. Mary's Hospital as an RN on several units where her commendable service was recognized, she later worked at Calvert County Memorial Hospital, Breton Medical Services and then moved to more specialized work helping people with social, mental & physical disabilities with several Southern Maryland Organizations. Her illness forced her to end more than a decade's long career as a delegating nurse with Bay CSS/UCP Southern Maryland in 2014.

Besides her work, she was devoted to her family, especially her recently arrived grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. She was a diehard Washington Redskins fan, having exchanged her British Manchester United Team loyalties for the Redskins. She enjoyed her PBS British shows and only illness would keep her from her Saturday morning viewing of "EastEnders". She watched the "Tour De France" race avidly every year, since she considered the racers the greatest athletes in any sport, and was deeply disappointed when a planned trip to the UK for the Tour's start would begin in her hometown had to be put off her illness. Fortunately, Pamela travelled often early in life and was able to visit many beautiful places. In her youth, she enjoyed trips with her parents to Spain, Greece, the Isle of Man and later with her husband and children back to England, Scotland, Bermuda to visit friends. Her more recent travel included trips for enjoyment to Costa Rica, and Italy and Alaska. She also travelled to California and Florida to witness the arrival into this world of her three grandchildren in defiance of her growing mobility impairments. Pamela was a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend and a tireless advocate for those less fortunate than herself. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

In addition to her husband, Pamela is survived by her children Nicholas M. Moran, of ID, Sarah Moran Vidstrand (Anders), of VA, and Megan Johnson (Kyle), of FL, brother, William B. Brook (Merry), of CA, and three grandchildren.

Family will receive friends for Pamela's Life Celebration on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension located at 21641 Great Mills Rd, Lexington Park, MD 20653. Interment will be private.

Pamela's life was tremendously improved by a grant made possible by the Health Well Foundation, an organization that provides assistance to patients coping with the drug and medication costs associated with long-term and advanced illness.
