James Edward Proctor Sr., 71, of Pomfret, MD, died September 25, 2008, at Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland.

James retired from Chopp & Company, Inc., Waldorf as a truck driver. He loved being around family and friends. His favorite thing was to take pictures and watch western movies. James was educated in the Princes George's County Public School System.

He was born July 25, 1937 in Brandywine, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Ada and William Henry Proctor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bernette Proctor; mother-in-law, Katherine Geneva Swann; father-in-law, James Thomas Swann; brother- in-law, James Leon Swann; and many half brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his sons, James Edward Proctor Jr. and James Gregory Swann Sr.; grandchildren, Whitley Swann, Mahogany Lyles, Brittany Forbes and James Swann Jr.; and a great grandchild, Xavier Proctor; brothers, Bernard "Bernie" Proctor and William "Bunny" Proctor Sr.; sisters, Mary "Peggy" Savoy, Margaret "Vicky" and Thelma Harley; daughter-in-law, Gloria Swann; sisters-in-law, Celena Proctor and Catherine Richardson; brothers-in-law, Matthew Swann and Bernard Swann.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until Mass at 12:00 noon, on Friday, Oct 3rd at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pomfret, MD. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
