William Lucas "Will" Smith, Jr., 19, of Scotland, MD died September 21, 2008 in University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, Massachusetts.
William Lucas Smith, Jr. was born to William "Will" Lucas Smith, Sr. and Jeannie Marie (Mulhall) Smith on January 4, 1989 in Patuxent River, Maryland. William attended Ridge Elementary School, Spring Ridge Middle School and Great Mills High School. After graduating from Great Mills High School, William decided to continue his education at West Virginia Tech University and later transferred to Becker College in Massachusetts, where he planned to major in Sports Management. William was an all-star athlete and loved playing sports. William's favorite sport was basketball. When you feel the wind blowing it is William playing one-on-one with the Heavenly Basketball Team. William was a member of the Great Mills School basketball, football and baseball teams. He enjoyed playing basketball, football and spending time with his family and friends. William was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. William will be deeply missed because of the love and support that he shared with all he met and will be remembered for his smile genuine love for life, laughter and friendship. William leaves to cherish his memory to his loving parents William and Jeannie Smith, and his brother Timothy Smith; grandparents, Guffrie Smith, Sr. and Parthenia Smith of Scotland, Maryland, John and Estelle Mulhall of Cleveland, Ohio. Twenty-seven aunts and uncles Timothy Mulhall (Sandra), Maureen Voyticky (Kenneth), Margaret Walters (Jerry), Patricia Hansady (Michael), Kevin Mulhall (Mary), Thomas Mulhall, Michael Mulhall, (Catherine) Patrick Mulhall (Laurie), Dennis Mulhall ( Victoria), Kathleen Gorentz (Robert) all of Cleveland Ohio; Guffrie Smith, Jr. (Casey) of St. Leonard, Maryland; Marva Johnson (Reno) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Zerita Shade of St. Inigoes, Maryland; Alberta Smith of Forestville, Maryland; Orlando Smith (Donna) of Lexington, Kentucky; Beulah Barnes of Scotland, Maryland; Eugene Smith (Joyce) of Dale City, Virginia; Desiree Berry (Paul) and Ramona Smith both of Scotland, Maryland; Holly Powell (Larry) of Glenarden, Maryland; Aaron Smith (Gloria) of Scotland, Maryland; Wendy Morton (Terry) and Vivian Smith of Lexington Park, Maryland; Shayne Smith, and Cindy Smith, and one brother-in-law Robert Bennett (Mae) all of Scotland, Maryland, and a host of cousins and friends. William was predeceased by his aunt Mae Helen Bennett, his cousin Paul "June" Johnson and a close friend and brother-in-law William Shade, Jr. Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 16922 St. Peter Claver Road, St. Inigoes, MD 20684. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Leroy Boldley, pastor of St. Luke's United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke's United Methodist Cemetery, Scotland, MD 20687. Memorial contributions may be made to an account established for Timothy M.
