George "Billy" Frank Forbes, Jr., 88 of Bryantown, MD died on September 7, 2008 at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.

Born on September 21, 1919 in Aquasco, MD, he was the son of the late George F., Sr. and Eugenia Hall Forbes.

Mr. Forbes was a life long resident. He was a Farmer. Serving in the U.S. Army during World War II with 175th Infantry, 29 Division. During his time, he served as a Communications Sergeant and Radio Operator in an Antitank Company in the U.S. Army's 29th Regiment. He received A Combat Infantry Badge, European African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four service stars and an Invasion Arrowhead, Bronze Star, and several other commemorations. Also was a member of Hughesville American Legion and was a score keeper for a baseball team in Bryantown. Mr. Forbes was very patriotic, went to the 50th, 55th, and 60th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara Mary Geldard Forbes. Preceded in death by siblings, Elleanor M. Forbes Carrico, Martha "Patty" Forbes Boone, Marie Forbes Grieser, and Robert Forbes.

Survived by a daughter, Barbara Ann Forbes Francis of South Boston, VA, sister, Mittie Forbes Simmons, brother, Dr. Joseph Forbes, grandchild, Mary C. Harrison, and great-grandchildren, Ann F. and Sarah L. Harrison.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8PM with prayers recited at 7PM in Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown, MD. Interment will follow at St. Dominic's Cemetery, 22300 Aquasco Rd., Aquasco, MD.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Louis Clement Carrico, Rudolf Ambrose Carrico, Jr., Francis Benjamin Harrison, Carter Francis Forbes, Matthew Bolling Bryant, and James Brent Hooper, Jr.
