Russell Warren VanLieu, age 101 of La Plata, Maryland, died February 20, 2018 at the Sagepoint Nursing Home in La Plata, Maryland. Russell was an Accounting Assistant for 40 years with the Department of Justice (U.S. Government) and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Mt. Carmel Monastery, both in La Plata, Maryland. He liked to read and swim at the ocean. He was also a member of the 2-N-1 Club at the Clark Senior Center in La Plata, Maryland.

He was the son of Albert Britton VanLieu and Bertha May Docherty VanLieu. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Kathleen M. VanLieu; his daughter, Mary Patricia West; his brothers, Albert VanLieu and Donald VanLieu. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Roache (Barry); and his son-in-law, Dennis West. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends received on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 9:30AM until Funeral Service at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735. Memorial contributions in Russell's name may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
