R. Kenneth Ogden,82, of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on July 14, 2008 at his home. Born Sept. 22, 1925 in Prince Frederick, MD to the late James Howard and Mary Hance Ogden, Jr.
Kenneth served in the Army, 130th Infantry Division and was severely wounded in the South of France in 1944.He participated in Rhineland Campaign and received the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, a Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with Battle Star, Expert Infantry Badge , Combat Infantry Badge and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He was discharged after many months in the hospital. When he got home, he went to work as an attendant in the ESSO station on Main Street in Prince Frederick. ESSO turned into EXON, and Kenneth went from being the attendant to becoming the owner of the station for 45 years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church family. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hall Ogden and stepchildren, Brian Hall Milligan and Lynn Briggs Gallagher. His granddaughter whom he raised, Jennifer Lynn Milligan, a brother, J. Howard Ogden, Jr., a sister in law Gladys N. Ogden and other family members, survives him. The family will receive friends at Trinity United Methodist Church, Prince Frederick, on Thursday July 17, 2008 from 6-8 where services will be held on Friday July 18, 2008, 11 A.M. Interment will follow in Wesley Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Hastings, Michael Gaiser, David Cox, Eddie Wood, David Ogden, Robert Conner and Honorary bearers Jason Berry and Jack Smack.
