Garone, Pauline Mercy Constance Kelly, of St Mary's City MD died 29 June 2008, at Kindred Hospital, St. Petersburg FL. Born in Hartfordshire, England August 30, 1932, Mrs. Garone grew up in London during WWII. An avid swimmer, she was member of the Northwoods Hills Swim Club and a volunteer life guard. After her secondary education was completed Mrs. Garone attended the London School of Sewing where she received a Certificate of Merit and International Guild Membership.

She met her husband Michael Garone, USAF, and immigrated to the United States in 1951, where they were later married in Brooklyn NY, January 21, 1952 and Pauline applied for and received her American Citizenship soon after. As an Air Force spouse, she spent the next 21 years traveling the United States and the world with her husband and family, living in Azores Islands, Libya, England (twice) and across the USA. During this time Mrs. Garone became a certified Red Cross Hospital volunteer, providing valuable service at the many remote hospitals that were located where they were stationed. Always showing a genuine interest in the places and people that came into her life, Pauline had many wonderful experiences to share with all who cared to listen.

Upon her husband's retirement, the family relocated back to the United States. After a brief 3 year stay in Long Island NY, where Pauline studied to be an LPN, Michael, Pauline and family moved to St Petersburg Fl. area, residing for 17 years in Pinellas Park. Pauline worked as a LPN at St. Petersburg General Hospital, and was Emergency Room administrator at Humana Hospital Pinellas Park. Pauline then worked as office administrator for Dr. Nathan Hameroff and Dr. Angelo Alvez.

During their retirement, Michael and Pauline relocated to Middleburg Fl and Charlotte NC to be with their children and their families for a small time and eventually retired to Orange Park FL. After her husbands death, Mrs. Garone traveled to each of her children's homes, spending time with her grandchildren as often as possible and has resided for the last few years with her daughter in MD where she loved the area's rich history and English roots.

Last year Pauline traveled home to England to celebrate her mother's 100th birthday. Pauline was an avid volunteer, always offering her time and skills to help out her children and grandchildren in their diverse activities. Some of the things she will be remembered for are being a Band Booster parent for Gibbs Senior High School as well as a costumer for the Drama and Choir Departments, being an avid supporter and providing assistance at her grandsons' many Boy Scout activities, participating in her granddaughters' acting, dancing and other activities. Pauline even received a special letter of recognition from the Dept of the Navy, National Airworthiness Office for assisting and applying her skills for Workplace Enhancement.

Pauline enjoyed visiting with her family, travelling, going to special events, attending concerts and museums, and she was also an amateur archeologist and archivist. But the thing that gave her the greatest joy was her family.

Pauline is survived by her mother, Winifred Boiselle Kelly and her sister, Janet Heward of Carpenders Park, England; daughters Claire Grusden, Debra Turner, Linda Howe and son David Garone; Son in laws Thomas Turner, Robert Howe and daughter in law, Lynne Garone.
