George Robert Briscoe, 60, of Loveville, MD died June 10, 2008 in St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD.

Born June 28, 1947 in Great Mills, MD, he was the son of the late George Washington Briscoe and Martha Brooks Briscoe.

Jr., or Uncle Jr. as he was known to all, attended St Peter Claver and Cardinal Gibbons Institute in Ridge, Maryland and George Washington Carver in Lexington Park, MD. After school, he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1969. George was extremely proud of having served his country and loved to tell stories of his service experiences, particularly about his tour in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morganza, MD. On March 14, 1977 George was united in holy matrimony to Helen T. Banks and from that union they were blessed with three children. He presently was employed with the St. Mary's County Board of Education for over 30 years and also worked for 23 years as a security officer with the St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland.

Jr, spent most of his leisure time working on his 1971 antique Cadillac, that was his pride and joy. He and Theresa loved taking Sunday drives; you hardly saw one without the other. He loved telling jokes and stories and always wanted to be the first to tell you the news but couldn't keep a secret. His favorite saying before telling a good story would be "I GOT COLD CHILLS," while at the same time his left hand would be rubbing his right arm as if you could see the 'chills'. He was also a big Dallas Cowboy fan.

Jr, was a devoted husband and father and thus leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife Theresa, his children Marvin DaVaughn Banks, Rossyln Michelle and Wayne Lamont Briscoe; three grandchildren: Denote Aquil Banks, Riniya Marcelle Countiss, and Kiet King; six sisters: Dorothy A. Wiggins (Charles) of Greenboro, NC, Barbara Berry of Clinton, MD, Lorraine Williams (Wilford) of Park Hall, MD, Connie Baldwin of Jacksonville, NC, Rose Briscoe (Tony Evans) of Lexington Park, MD, and Brenda Briscoe of Park Hall, MD; two brothers: Larry Briscoe (Ann) of Jacksonville, NC and Raymond Briscoe (Angie) of Havelock, NC; and a hosts of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Diane Briscoe.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Keith Woods will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.

Arrangements by the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. in Leonardtown, MD.
