Jack A. Mallicote, age 80, of Dunkirk, MD since 1970, died June 5, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
He was a retired businessman in South Anne Arundel County, and co-founder with his wife Claire of Mali Discount , an office supply store located in Deale, MD which they opened in 1982 and operated together until her death in 2005. He sold the business upon his retirement in 2007. Jack was active in the community, and supported local charities such Christmas in April and Hospice of the Chesapeake, and was instrumental in establishing the first South County Festival, and there-after supporting the yearly event. Born October 22, 1927 in Morristown, TN, he was raised in Tennessee and Norfolk, VA. He served in the US Army from 1950-1952 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He married Claire E. Hertz in 1965 and they made their home in Dunkirk. He loved yard-work and gardening, and automobile mechanics. He was a member of the Pressman's Union in Washington, D.C. and was a pressman at the former Washington Star newspaper for many years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 2528, Deale, MD. He was preceded in death by his wife Claire Elizabeth Mallicote and a sister Barbara Zachary. He is survived by daughters Jacquelyn "Jackie" Lee of Cape Canaveral, FL, Christina Q. Thomas of Cocoa Beach, FL and Tracy E. Klinkert of King George, VA; a son John Henry Hamilton Mallicote of Dunkirk. Seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are sisters Joan Morelock of Church Hill, TN, Betty Barnes of Elk Point, SD, Pat Albert of Afton, TN and Zandra Mallicote of Roanoke, VA and brothers Joy Mallicote of Bristol, TN, Kenneth and Keener Mallicote of Kingsport, TN and Hike Mallicote of Dandridge, TN.
